TERENCE H. HULL

TerryTerence H. Hull is Emeritus Professor of Demography and was until recently the JC Caldwell Chair in Population, Health and Development at the Australian National University, where for 42 years he has undertaken research across a wide range of population fields including reproductive health, indirect analysis of vital rates, population dynamics, sexuality, and analysis of marriage and parenting. With Valerie J. Hull he carried out numerous village studies in Indonesia and Fiji. His PhD supervisor was the late Professor Masri Singarimbun, for whom he worked during the 1970s to establish research and training programs at Gadjah Mada University. In the 1980s he managed the International Population Dynamics Program that included numerous projects in China, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia. From 1993-96 he worked on secondment in the School of Public Health of the University of Indonesia. He has been an active  lecturer, and regularly participates in conferences of the IUSSP, the Population Association of America, and the Australian Population Association, of all of which he is a long time member. He has been on the International Steering Committee of all six Asia Pacific Conferences of Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights, and has assisted in drafting the Conference declarations.
