Dear Colleagues,
As of midnight 15 September 2014 the APA Conference committees have received nearly 1,200 abstract submissions. This is a very heartening response, and the Scientific Committee is very pleased to see such a strong indication of professional interest in population studies across Asia.
We have decided to extend the deadline for submissions for an additional month. Some of our members indicated that they were having difficulty with the deadline at a time when they are beginning a new teaching year, and others had problems with their local IT connections to the internet. Most importantly there seem to be a number of people beyond the 1,200 submissions who hit the submission button before they had filled in all the required information.
So, on behalf of the organizers, let me urge you to consider the following steps:
1. If you have already made a submission, please check your files to ensure that you have filled in all the requested information, including the extended abstract.
2. If you have not been able to complete uploading of all information and need assistance, send an email explaining your situation to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
3. If you have not submitted your abstract but still wish to do so, please go to the website address and register your interest, and follow the prompts: http://asianpa.conference-services.net/authorlogin.asp?conferenceID=4197&language=en-uk
The Scientific Committee will begin the peer review process on 15 October and will not be able to accept any submissions after that date. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that all the submissions are correctly completed. This will make the job of the peer reviewers much easier.
I would also like to send a personal note of encouragement to all our members across Asia to share information about the conference with your colleagues. There are a number of countries that are not well represented among the 1,200 submissions, and it would be disappointing if their experiences were not to appear on the program.
