Chair of the APA NTA Scientific Group, Dr. Setsuya Fukuda, Highlights Policy Applications of NTA in Ageing Asia
On 27 January 2026, Dr. Setsuya Fukuda, Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research (IPSS), Japan, and Chair of the APA Scientific Group on Policy Use of National Transfer Accounts (NTA) in Ageing Asia, served as a key speaker at the Side Meeting “Financing Active Ageing: The Life-course Approach” held during the Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2026 (PMAC 2026) in Bangkok. The side meeting was jointly organized by Mahidol University, the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), Thailand, the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office, and the Thai Population Association.
In his presentation, Dr. Fukuda emphasized the policy relevance of National Transfer Accounts (NTA) and National Time Transfer Accounts (NTTA) in informing evidence-based responses to population ageing, including social protection, long-term care financing, pension reform, and human capital investment.
